Copy Intern
The Role
We’re looking for a copy intern to join our writing team at Koto London.
You’ll work alongside Director-level, Senior, and Midweight writers on all kinds of projects: tone of voice development, visual identity, campaign thinking, brand storytelling, concepting, and day-to-day writing tasks.
This is a 6-week internship with the possibility to extend.
We’re looking for someone who has:
A genuine passion for writing, reading and a curiosity about other creative crafts.
Availability to work in our SE London office (4 days in-person, optional WFH Fridays).
A portfolio (of sorts) — whether spec work, zines, Substack/Medium posts, riveting Notes app rants, or uni projects that show how you think and express yourself.
An ability to articulate your ideas and respond thoughtfully to feedback.
Some awareness of the design or creative industries.
How to apply:
Send over your portfolio (of sorts) and a cover letter (200 words max, but the tighter the better).
For the cover letter, skip the corporate templates and show us your writing chops. Tell us why you want in or why you'd be a good fit. Show us who you are and how you think on the page. Get creative. Spin up a story. Make us sit up and listen!
Applications without a cover letter won't be considered.
Our Responsibilities
The internship will be for six weeks, five days per week.
You will be paid £554 per week.
You’ll be in-person in our Central London Studio Monday-Thursday, with the option of working from home on Fridays.
We will ensure that you have frequent access to our team, and opportunities to learn from them where possible.
We will provide meaningful feedback throughout your internship to support your personal development and career ambitions.
We ensure Koto is an equal environment for all our employees
We will ensure you are engaged with the realities of the agency, doing the same work we do.
Our Culture
At Koto we encourage our team to be ‘rationally optimistic’ about the potential of our work, our clients, their businesses, and the power of brand.
We pursue the best briefs, want to inspire meaningful work, and for those interested provide an opportunity to make the work of their lives. We are actively cultivating leadership, culture and spaces to encourage this.
We work in person with an optional WFH day on Friday, and an additional two weeks remote a year. We believe this produces the best work, mentoring opportunities, collective learning and culture.
We encourage autonomy in each member of our team, allowing them to manage their own time, hours and personal commitments appropriately to complete work.
